Update disclaimer
- Yes, I have checked and my issue is not related to the game updating and plugins not working correctly.
What did you do?
I just updated my XIVLauncher to the latest
version in both my Steam Deck and my
SteamOS PC running Bazzite (running at 4k 60fps)
Now Final Fantasy XIV runs in a caped 42fps,
and no matter how low I get the settings in
mostly empty areas, it doesnt go past 45fps.
I have the game uncapped in both
Gamemode and ingame settings and there
was no difference.
Platform
Linux (Wine/Proton)
Wine/Proton runner version
XLM

I just changed my Wine prefix to custom and chose GEProton 9-20, it launchs but its still locked to 40fps, I noticed that sometimes it goes up to 50 but gets down to a stable 45 after that.
I have another PC with lower specs at home running Windows, the game runs locked at 60fps and this pc has considerably lower specs than mine.
I just forced ffxivboot.exe through Steam via Proton. Running the game through the original launcher solves my issue.
Im conclusion, there's something wrong with XIVLauncher (Running on Linux) that's making it "frame-cap" the game for some reason.
