Is there a reason for the bump in rubygems version?

No particular reason. Would > 1.3 suit you? I can cut a new gem in short order.

Yes, that'd be great :) Heroku bamboo is on 1.3.7, so there's been issues installing the latest version of wrest.

Fixed in 3cf205d - 1.4.4 is now released with the rubygems dep reduced to 1.3.x or greater.
