How to show the continue button & getting data on crossed-out e's

I would like to use the ecross task on Qualtrics for a research project. However, I would like to have participants doing the task at their own pace. Nevertheless, I am interested in the data showing how many e-letters or non-e’s they have crossed out.

Thus, I would like to display a continue button on the bottom of the page at all times. By adding "qualtrics.showNextButton“ to the JAVA code, a continue button was displayed. However, the data on how many e’s have been crossed out was not reported any longer.

I would highly appreciate any help with this issue.
