Enhancement: match directories

Opened this issue · 8 comments

Could fiplr show results for directories in addition to files?

Yes, and in fact earlier versions had this feature. I removed it in a decision to simplify, but if people want it, it would be trivial to put back in.

Ah, cool!

It would be nice if that could be optional. I've never had a need for finding directories.

I don't use fiplr to find things, I use fiplr to quickly navigate through deeply nested directories.

Sometimes, I want to open a directory in dired, but I don't want to have to type the whole thing out. Tab completion just ain't quick enough, for files or folders!

yeah I use it for finding files in a tree with > 10k files... I don't care much about folders

@d11wtq Please add this option back.

I wouldn't mind if this feature were off by default, just document how to turn it on.

So the old way that I removed was just a different command fiplr-find-directory. Definitely optional.

Ah. Could there be an option to include results from fiplr-find-directory in the same results as normal fiplr find? I want to search for both files and folders with the same hotkey.
