Is this module still needed?

The README mentions Go issue 14514 as the reason for the existence of this module.

But in 14514 I see a reference from CL 227037 : crypto/x509: use Security.framework without cgo for roots on macOS.

So I wonder if the issue is fixed in recent release of Go and if this module is still needed.
