What is the problem you are trying to solve with this feature?
Date formats are currently always entered mm/dd/yyyy and always displayed as yyyy-mm-dd
This is both confusing (I had no idea if it was mm/dd/yyyy or dd/mm/yyyy for editing initially), and just a tad strange the display is a different format
What is the solution you are proposing?
I think there should be an user option for setting their prefered date format, same as there is already a currency format.
What alternatives have you considered?
Alternativatly sticking with yyyy-mm-dd would still be an improvement as thats a standard date format when hyphens are used, avoiding confusion around month or day first.
