Viewing :direct_messages buffer causes a 404

When I try and switch to the buffer, I see a 404 error saying:

Response: HTTP/2 404  for GET https://api.twitter.com/1.1/direct_messages.json?count=20&include_entities=true&full_text=true

However, the direct_message_events timeline works with no problems, and that's what I'm using now as a plan B.
