SafariStand for Mac Sierra

Opened this issue · 34 comments

When do you can support for mac seirra ?

Thanks

Some functionality of SafariStand v9.0.217 still works in Safari 10.10 (currently still on OS X 10.11.6), namely suppress tab bar width, dated download folders etc.

I installed Safari 10.0 this morning, and now get a plugin load error when bringing up Safari. The Stand menu is there after clicking OK, and I have tested that the dated downloads folder does work. HOWEVER, right-clicking on anything in the browser makes it crash. Removing the SafariStand plugin bundle from ~/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins, restarting the browser and right-clicking on the same object works without Safari Stand running.

Suppress tab bar width is not working, and I am facing with the same error as tginther.
Can you please update the plugin.

I got the same problem with safari 10, the sidebar tab could not work, and right click will cause a crash of safari.

Same here on safari 10.0, OSX 10.11.6 (not sierra), with System Integrity Protection disable : error on Safari startup, tab bar width and tab favicons don't work, right-clicking instant crash. Favbar icons work. (I'll post some Console output).

Since the tabbed windows comes as a standard feature in macOS Sierra, it makes much more sense to me if the tab width control gets moved to a separate SIMBL plugin. I dislike stretched tabs not only in Safari ;)

I'd love to see this plugin updated to support Safari 10.0 :-)

I'd be even willing to pay for it, if it was well maintained.

I would really donate and pay for this! For big users with lots of tabs, you need favicons.

There is the safari extensions gallery https://safari-extensions.apple.com

the app could be submitted to.

I'm sure people would buy this - this is the only thing missing for safari so it's a gap in the market waiting for money to be made. Take my cash!

Shut up and take my money :)

really guys, update please

@crathecrub Unfortunately favicons can't be implemented in a standard Safari extension, as Safari itself just implements macOS's tab widget. SafariStand requires SIMBL to override that part of the OS, which Apple will never officially support.

With that said, SIMBL is now maintained by @w0lfschild here: https://github.com/w0lfschild/mySIMBL. This build is working great on macOS Sierra -- now we just need SafariStand! @hetima, it would be great if you could communicate whether you intend to continue supporting SafariStand or if this is a dead project. I'm agreed with the others -- I would be more than happy to pay for this.

cosytabs is working perfectly fine if you are just concern about the tab size.

@hetima add me to the list of users willing to pay for SafariStand if you update it to support Safari 10 and macOS.

Found a way to fix it. Appeared to be really simple, they've just changed a name of their tab bar class :) Didn't look into the other features tho.. Since the original author disappeared, should I create a fork?

@anakinsk That's fantastic! A fork would be great! Top notch work.

@anakinsk Супер, сделай пожалуйста форк :) потому что автор походу забил на поддержку.

FWIW, @hetima hasn't responded to Twitter DM's or this issue queue in a very long time. And their last commit to any of their projects was a year ago. Please fork it @anakinsk that would be great!

Alright, I will tidy up things a bit and make it available in the next few days :)

anakinsk is the saving light!!! or dark side?... :) Thank you!

Alright, I think I got a stable version, it works fine on both of my macs on Safari 10 with the Sierra and El Capitan installed.

Here's the new project homepage: https://github.com/anakinsk/SafariStand

Please give it a go and let me know if it works :)

May the force be with you.

I,

Works great many Thanks. Good Job

I haven't downloaded yet but I wanted to say thanks and I hope you get a lot of promotion and work or this! Safaristand is the only thing available that does the job for Safari so it fills a niche. Keep in touch with the community so we can support!

Thank You @anakinsk!

Thanks @anakinsk! Has anyone tested on Sierra yet? I got everything installed but no dice so far.

@TomFrost, J-charles-C said it worked for him. Did you install mySIMBL also? I don't think it will work with the original SIMBL.

@TomFrost @riegelstamm I've tested it with mySIMBL and it works, but some features are not working just yet. I've posted an issue in the new repository: anakinsk#1

If you find more issues you should create issues there instead using this thread, as anakinsk requested in the updated README.md

I,

I think there are a little bug on Add Bookmark (Ctrl D). There are only one choice to "favorite ", not to normal bookmark.

Sorry for my bas english.

Hey JC, could you please create an issue here: https://github.com/anakinsk/SafariStand/issues describing the actual and expected result (especially the expected one, I am new to this project and if something does not work I need to know exactly how it worked before in order to fix it)

It is also nice to have issues recorded properly so we are not putting everything into this thread.

Cheers

@anakinsk I really appreciate you creating the fork. Kudos for this and thank you a million times over!

A million thanks @anakinsk! The sidebar and favicons came back once I dropped the latest SafariStand bundle into mySimbl. Haven't tested anything else yet.

SafariStand has stopped working after updating to MacOS 10.12.4, Safari 10.1

I've installed and reinstalled MySIMBL and attempted to add SafariStand back. No dice.

Thoughts?

Confirmed again this morning.

  1. removed MySIMBL from computer
  2. restarted
  3. disabled system integrity protection
  4. restarted
  5. downloaded/installed new installation of MySIMBL
  6. restarted
  7. Downloaded new copy of SafariStand 10.0.665 zip
  8. Added SafariStand 10.0.665 bundle to MySIMBL
  9. Quit all apps
  10. restarted computer
  11. launched Safari
  12. no SafariStand
  13. re-enabled system integrity protection
  14. sobbed into my coffee

:-(

@ Autoplayhater5, since you're using SafariStand 10.0.665, which is a fork of Hetima's original, you should post the issue at anakinsk#38. There's already a discussion thread there, as this is a known issue.

Thanks for the response and pointing me in the right direction!
