Realistically this will probably have to wait until 2015, as I have a lot more important things to do, but I just wanted a place to start gathering ideas and possibly feedback. At some point I'd like to update some parts of the UI that suddenly started looking dated now on 10.10.
Things to be changed might include:
- the ugly buttons - either replace with native ones (but the problem is that I can't make all the buttons that are blue now look blue in the native version, as blue is reserved for buttons bound to Enter shortcut), or find a Pod with another custom set that looks good (example1, example2)
- redesign the profile/contact views (possibly unifying the edit and view screen)
- transactions - replace the +/- icons
- sidebar - replace the dark background with something translucent (light or dark) with flatter icons
- lockscreen - same as sidebar
- main window - get rid of the page sliding animation?
- backup center - not sure yet, but I never liked how it looks
- send window - maybe get rid of the round-rect internal box
Some inspiration from Dribble
The Send dialog could look a bit more like this:
The sidebar (+ circle avatars, or at least round rects?):
The switch and gear would look nice in the backup center:
