human detecion (color based)

Hello my question is theoretical .I'm new learning opencv(javacv).I have a 
school project.

This is human detection on video frame but my way must be color based 
histogram.I was searching two days what is color based histogram.

I found "Hog" but this is histogram of oriented gradients so i want this method 
alternative on color based.

Any suggestion?
