exposing multiple processors to the guest seems to result in a kind of 'judder' in the display output. I recall reading that it was a problem with cpu affinity and possibly also with dynamic frequency scaling.
Will leave -smp 1
as frankly the games don't need anything more.
If using https://github.com/JHRobotics/softgpu or similar mesaforwindows with software rendering then the LLVMpipe guest side might benefit.
