Automatic check for FITS file compatibility

The latest version of the software is only compatible with the official release L1 FITS files. Currently a check is performed to see if the file is of type L1A and if so a warning is issued and the process stopped. The software is incompatible with previous versions of the L1 files which would pass this check and the L1A format may be updated to return software compatibility. Therefore more sophisticated checks are needed to determine if a given FITS file can be read appropriately.
