can't "show full list"

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. go to main page
2. click "show full list"
3. fail
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected: show list
seen: Timeout: datastore timeout: operation took too long
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
latest, mac safari
Please provide any additional information below.
i *just* entered a new secret. kjams "Timeout: datastore timeout: operation
took too long". did
that break it? why?

also when i go to update in the system pref pane i get this:
"Could not download latest data: Operation could not be completed. (HTTP Status
error 500.)"
