if i run session.send('top',echo=True,check_exit=True) in notebook how to exit?

when i run session.send('top',echo=True,check_exit=True) in notebook ;
this is long time command,
then i can't do anything in this notebook ;
so how can i do other things in the notebook; or how can i send ctrl-c to exit the command
