Formulae in Excel template

Is it possible to leave a formula field as it is , without parsing the content of the field ?
Also keeping the cell format (date, formula, etc) as defined, at the moment it seems like the cells are overwritten as a text cells

Additional observation - if there are empty sheets in the xlsx file, the entire parser fails
