Lab no's for microbiology should be sequential

Lab No's for Microbiology (probably for all sections) should be sequential i.e MIC-001 or M-001
and they should be unique for the lab section. i.e MIC-001 ... MIC-200, BIO-001...BIO-1000. The numbers should start afresh every new year to prevent the numbers from getting too big.

Is there like a tutorial on this, I don't know how to enable this functionality. We need like a small document on this on the wiki or something.

Change the file includes/defaults.php

SPECIMEN_ID Format [CATSEQUENTIAL|CATAUTO|AUTO]

• CATSEQUENTIAL - Each category maintains its own sequence of numbers PAR-1...PAR-n (Default)
• CATAUTO - ID is composed of the category prefix and the specimen_id field of the specimen table
• AUTO - The specimen_id field of the specimen table

The process of issuing sequential ID's should start from registration, otherwise the specimen numbers will change, rendering search impossible. #43
