Profile menu is sending too many events

The problem

Whenever you are changing your appearance or name there are multiple events sent. Also just by opening the menu, such a call (ParticipantUpdated) is triggered.

We should investigate if reducing the number of calls is feasible/desirable.

we actually once had a PR for this: #2809. I think it was almost finished too, not sure what happened to it 😅
