Installer hangs
Closed this issue · 5 comments
Installer seems to hang on this screen. Have used an iMac M1 8GB RAM 8-GPU 8-CPU and also a MacBook Air M1 8GB RAM.
The Activity Monitor shows multiple processes for "clang" taking up a lot of CPU
Sometimes by canceling the installer and then starting it again multiple times it can get past this, but then I get an error when it mounts the Game Porting Toolkit DMG.
Working as intended. The builds take a very long time, especially twice so on machines with specifications similar to what you have shared. Please try leaving it running overnight. You may also use the alternate method which is faster, but still will take a substantial amount of time.
Hmm, mine was stuck here (image) over two nights… How do I know if it's stuck or not? 😛
M1 Pro 16GB.
And if it's normal that it takes this long, maybe it should say something like that somewhere during the install? (If it doesn't already.)
One thing I wondered if is relevant: I already have Homebrew installed – but it's the ARM version. So "Install Homebrew" was unselected during my install. But I think I might've seen that you need the x86 version of Homebrew for GPTK..?
Please file a https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/ with Apple, requesting that they recognize InstallAware's contributions to the Apple Game Porting Toolkit in their readme. We are regretfully unable to provide any further support until that time.
Ah, OK – so per now this installer isn't working?
It's working.
We just aren't able to provide complimentary end-user support for it any longer to help you resolve your issue until such time as Apple has acknowledged our efforts in their own readme for the Apple Game Porting Toolkit.
Please note that InstallAware is not an end-user tool but a setup development platform for software developers, and this installer is just one example application (installer) built with InstallAware.
