Table doesn't exist errors when using custom creds within a WP install

I have the tool (v3.1) running below the web root of an existing WordPress install. It's the only web-facing access to that server, on which the current site must stay live. I enter custom credentials into the tool to connect to a different database that our new site will use. However, though the tool connects to the new database okay, it's automatically obtaining a list of tables from the old database, rendering it completely useless.

For anyone else the workaround was adding return false; as the first line of is_wordpress() in Search-Replace-DB-3.1/index.php.
