Description

IOTA wallet froze, then I tried to kill the process, and I couldn't. So, I restarted. After I restarted, I tried to start the wallet. It would not open. I tried to reinstall the wallet, and surprisingly I got the following message:

"IOTA wallet is running. Click OK to close it."

I restarted the machine, and then tried to reinstall it. Super surprisingly I got the message again:

"IOTA wallet is running. Click OK to close it." (even though I hadn't started the wallet after the restart).

Then, I uninstalled the IOTA wallet, downloaded the installation file for 2.5.7, restarted the computer, and then tried to install the wallet. CONCERNINGLY, I still got the message:

"IOTA wallet is running. Click OK to close it."

HOW COULD IT BE RUNNING IF I UNINSTALLED IT!!!!!!!!

Even worse,

I uninstalled the IOTA wallet, then went to the appdata/roaming directory, and tried to delete the IOTA wallet directory (which still had IOTA wallet.exe in it). Windows wouldn't let me delete it. I got the windows message indicating that the directory was in use by a program.

What? How is that possible?

Then, I restarted and opened resource monitor. Guess what? After UNINSTALLING THE WALLET AND RESTARTING, IOTA wallet.exe was running and taking up the most CPU resources.

I then tried to End Process Tree, and I got the following message "When attempting to execute command, the following error occurred: Access Denied"

I started my machine in safe mode, searched for anything with the word IOTA in it and deleted it. However, after what happened above, how can I be certain I've removed it all.

I am a fan of IOTA (I own a lot), and I want it to do well, but it seems we are falling down here. What is the deal? Someone should answer this soon, because it is a major, major concern.

I will not reinstall this wallet until this issue is not only address, but answered with a reasonable explanation of why this behavior occurred.

Windows 10
Wallet version 2.5.7

Bump. Any thoughts out there?

I also have a pending transaction that won't go through. It has been 5 days. I have a script running that promotes the transaction once per second. I have over 5000 promotes, and the transaction is still not going though. I have a lot of IOTA on the seed with this pending transaction, so all that money is stuck. I am a very patient person, and have been a strong advocate for IOTA over the last year, but this is extremely frustrating.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

I had the exact same problem.

Initially, I set up the wallet and successfully deposited some Iota. It worked fine the first time I opened it.

When I closed it down, it would not reopen, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck. I just click the icon and nothing happens.

Also running Windows 10 and wallet version 2.5.7. I even tried installing some of the older versions but this also didn't work.

Ultimately, I had to install the wallet on another computer.

Hopefully a better wallet will be available sometime in the future.

flipp45 - did you have a problem with a pending transaction after this happened?
