Does it work with other beaglebone devices?

Hello, I'm student and I'm working on personal project that involves SPI display. Currently It seems like I'm doing something wrong and display doesn't seem to working. For sanity test of display, I'd like to use this project to test it.
However, I don't have enough money to buy beaglebone black yet. and it seems like there are other cheaper beaglebone products.
Also there was lime mentioning beaglebone in the device tree.

So does it work with other beaglebone devices?

I'm planning to provide display signal by other way, I do not need it to recognize it as display device, I just need to prove that it's working
