Tag releases on GitHub

It seems that there have been releases on pypi since the last tagged version on GitHub. It would be fantastic if you all could tag those commits and put together a CHANGELOG.md so that downstream applications know what the updates are about without sifting through the commits.

We have been lax on this. However, the last commit changes the version to 0.5.2 and that's the latest version on PyPi.
