Problems in getting front matter, TOC and headings right when adapting bookdown/thesisdown to local university LaTeX template

I am a PhD student trying to adapt the bookdown or thesisdown templates to the LaTeX thesis template used at my University (Lund University, Sweden). However, due to my limited knowledge I am struggling. The LU template pdf export looks like this and my pdf export now looks like this. As you can see, I have managed to get the fonts right and some of the structure but I am missing out on: the look of the vaious headings; the front matter; the table-of-content look; the list of publications look, etc. Any help with any of these things would be highly appreciated.

Now, I know that this question is not limited to a single issue, and thus maybe a bit to broad to be answered in a simple way here but at the moment I am struggling with all these things and therefore found no other way than to formulate the question like this.
