This test case testBufferConstructor
is failing during ./gradlew test under java-8 branch, is this expected?

Which version of Java were you using? Note that for Java 8 and branch java-8
, both Oracle's JDK and OpenJDK compile JPF and behave mostly similarly. I have just tried the tests, and they pass for me on Mac OS X:
java version "1.8.0_251"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_251-b08)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.251-b08, mixed mode)
@cyrille-artho I am using openJDK
openjdk version "1.8.0_392"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_392-8u392-ga-1~22.04-b08)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.392-b08, mixed mode)
Just tried again and get
TypeNameTest > testArrayCloning PASSED
Test Execution: FAILURE
Summary: 949 tests, 948 passed, 1 failed, 0 skipped
949 tests completed, 1 failed
Can you please try again using Oracle's JDK? That was the default we used for Java 8. For Java 11, we transitioned to OpenJDK.

Yes, I tried with Oracle's JDK and it works...
Thank you for confirming!
I have added a (different) phrase to README.md
on both the java-8
and master
branches to clarify the Java dependencies.
