There is no easy way to install only Vim's settings

Putting together all the environment configuration and Vim's settings is the handiest option for myself, but there should be a way to only install the vim configuration and leave the rest out.

Not worth the effort, easiest way to do this is to remove all unwanted files after cloning the repository and before installation. then they can be checked out again if needed.
