1. I'm still curious as to why there was such heavy emphasis on the example line. To me it seems the text could have been equally understandable and impactful without this emphasis. I feel like the text doesn't relate it very well aside from some loose connections about syntax, and the beginning fails to use it meaningfully despite mentioning it several times.

2. The beginning section was pretty interesting. I always think it's fun to discuss how technology changes how we interact with the world, even if we can't see the other side of what we're using. Namely the section about the program that analyzed trends in literature fascinates me, because learning about patterns like these could do a lot more than just help those reading the stories. Information like that could have multidisciplinary impact, especially in social sciences like psychology where finding trends could lead to very precise understanding of human tendencies.
