Request: Line Numbers

bgeorge77 opened this issue · 9 comments

I have been using this document in my math classes for the last year or so now, and one thing that would help would be Line Numbers added along the right side of the text--perhaps in faint grey. This would allow me to just say "Look at Line 3" rather than "Ok, see the line where it's a blue angle and a red one? See it?"

Looking at it now it looks a little messy--but it would be invaluable to have some way to reference individual lines of the text.

It is usually enough to have a number of every 5th line.

For reference, yes, usually, but in the situation I am using this text it would just be one more cognitive step to figure out where line 8 is vs line 7. (Teaching Euclid to middle schoolers--someone give me an award or something.)

@bgeorge77 Sorry for not responding for so long, i was away from my computer for some time. I'll try to add this feature in a week.

@bgeorge77 For some reason ConTeXt's line numbering mechanism breaks other things if it's used for each proposition independently. I'll try to figure out what's going on there. Meanwhile, here's a pdf with line numbers on every page.

This will be hugely helpful in my class! Thank you!
EDIT: Just used it this morning, already a huge improvement in being able to quickly bounce around a proof and co-relate ideas.

Strange error on page 41: it seems that the initial letter didn't generate. Not a big deal, but you might want to check it out.
