clicking "new Diagram" in the file tree, does not create a new tab

When Clicking on new diagram in the file tree a new diagram is created but instead of making a new tab, it opens instead of the filetree, with no other option than closing it, removing the filetree icon.
The two pictures below show the same position of the new drawing not opening in a new tab, as expected.
Restart of obsidian reverts back to the normal layout.
