Add support for chuangmi.camera.ipc009

Closed this issue · 9 comments

As there is no official API and Xiaomi does not support third-party integration, being able to add a device to the Homey app depends on an existing integration, online documentation or donating the device to the developer. If neither of these can be fulfilled then integration is not possible.

Supply the device details

Current support

yes I have tested with every driver, does not work with any of them unfortunately

Additional information

It would be awesome to see real-time streaming from Homey as I used an old Surface Book 2 monitor as an SmartHome Console attached to the wall. Thank you very much for the integration if it is possible <3

This is not possible, as the MIoT API does not support a video or even image feed. Did you check the options available in the linked MIoT spec? There is not much useful to integrate if you ask me.

I thought that the "Camera Stream Management" and/or "P2P stream" could be used to integrate the video stream. As I can see those cameras can be displayed on an Amazon Echo Show. But I am not sure of course :)

Without having the actual device it's impossible for me to know what these parameters actually return and how to integrate them if it's actually a video feed. So unless you are willing to donate this device I wont be able to integrate it (and if with the device in my hands it could turn out the be impossible.

I can send you a donation to buy a similar device... I think I can't send you one of my cameras and I think also that you won't be able to find the same camera model.

I'll leave that up to you. The only thing I can promise you if you send me a donation of the amount of a camera is that I will try and buy a similar camera and will do my best to integrate it if there is indeed a video stream exposed. But no guarantees unfortunately.

Perhaps you can even suggest a similar camera based on the images and the specs here: https://home.miot-spec.com/s/chuangmi.camera

If the "Xiaomi Mi Smart Camera C300" is available in your market I can send you the money to buy this camera. It is very similar to the one I have and it has a P2P stream option.

That's available here. But in the mean time I did some desk research and looked at the python library which home assistant uses to integrate Xiaomi MIoT devices. It also doesn't integrate the video stream. So that is quite a good indication that it's not possible, even if I would have the device to test this myself. So there is little guarantee I can give you.

I did some more research and it's confirmed that the device does not expose a live stream over MIoT. I can integrate some of it's controls if you are interested but no stream or snapshot. I'm closing this for now.

Thank you very much for your time and search Jelger! I will change my cam in the future ;)
