commonmark/cmark also provides a CLI tool, and this repository also provides a CLI tool. Apart from the fact that it uses different library than that by commonmark-cli, is there any other difference.
Can one be used instead of the other? Is there any particular advantage or disadvantage of one over the other?
From what I can understand is that commonmark-cli supports pandoc extensions, while cmark doesn't. Is that it?

That's the main difference. cmark's CLI tool will also be faster.
