Summary
This gives a good idea of what glaucoma patients see, useful when considering development test cases.
- visual field test can be difficult, requiring an understanding of what is required, an ability to perform tasks quickly, and high levels of concentration
- Manual and/or automated visual field testing is subjective: it is totally dependent on the co-operation and responses of the patient
- Abnormalities in the visual field are a sign of damage anywhere in the visual system from the retina through to the brain's visual cortex
- when defects do not overlap, the field defects will not be apparent when the scene is viewed with both eyes together
- diagnostic purposes, it is important to test each eye separately
