The HN discussion itself does illustrate some areas we can address better:

Don't forget to budget (or negotiate compensation) to exercise your options (we mention this but could emphasize it more)
Add some sort of links about investment theory, so you are thoughtfully considering risk, edge, and payoff, and your current assets, if you are putting any in, e.g. Kelly criterion. Found this article but there may be better ones.
