Future of the project

Since this project seems to be unmaintained and author seems to be no longer responding to the issues, this issue serves as a place to discuss its future.
Is there currently any fork that has up to date styles from GitHub? Is any of the growing list of forks popular enough to serve as a future point of reference?

In the future maybe we could add some trusted contributors that could help in maintenance? I don't want to be rude. I really like this project and this is why I'm concerned that it has low bus factor… You've surely seen those popular projects that seemed to be abandoned by their authors and their future ended up in chaos. It'd be nice to have a way around it :)
