Logo flipper is not working in Chrome (v. 23.0.1271.64 Linux)

The flipper in the Journalism++ logo is not working in Chrome (version 23.0.1271.64 in Linux). Both the logo and the comment are visible when you open the site.

I put an opaque background on each card before we find the source of this bug.
It doesn't look to be related to the chrome version.
Maybe a material issue.
We maybe need to find a new animation, or a way to detect this issue and provide a fallback.

My screenshot is from Chromium 34.0.1847.132 (Linux, obviously).
