deft-find-file: how to disable defaulting to "find-file" and instead use deft-new-file-format

Excellent package, thank you. Still learning together with Zetteldeft. I would like to disable defaulting to find-file when the file is not found in the deft folder, so a new file is created using deft-new-file-format template for creating new notes. Is this possible?
