Why move to attic?

I don't understand why such a great tool moved to attic? Do people don't really need it?

I understand that this project once backed by IBM Emerging Technologies, and once the team behind this project moved, this project is hand over to Jupyter team which makes final decision to move to attic since there is no longer dedicated maintainer.

The flexibility of this project gives me is immensely useful since I can create dashboard without being tight into one visualization framework. I would be very interested to hear what others have been using since they no longer used this project.

P.S. I'm aware of jupyterlab/jupyterlab#1640 . And this could be one reason I can't move to jupyterlab.
