Recognize festive season

This module with the different festive seasons would be a good candidate to activate itself a few days before the season.
Having the calendar module usually installed, it may be possible to recognize e.g. christmas via a notification by calendar or just via a hardcoded date and activate the module a configurable range of days before that.
It would even be possible to show the NFL team colors automatically on the day the team plays.
