Preferences don't open when clicked in top bar

When I click on PingMenu icon in top bar and select "Preferences" nothing happens, there is no menu. I'm on Macbook Pro with Mavericks 10.9.5. Any ideas?

I've seen situations where the window opens behind all the other windows. This needs to be fixed, but as a workaround for now, see if it shows up if you hide all windows before selecting it.

It didn't work on an empty desktop, but when I minimized all apps the preferences appeared.
