Buzzer sound from GDAL-SOSI plugin on data with special characters

When GDAL/OGR with SOSI support reads data from folders with special characters (e.g. "Québec") a buzzer sound occurs on each read attempt, regardless type of data source (shape, sqlite ...).
This buzzer sound is up to now only reported from Windows and it`s source seems to be the SOSI-plugin. Any idea on how thissound could be avoided/surpressed?

There seems to be a Beep in fyba_melding if compiled on Windows. That's pretty annoying for a library, indeed.
