Can you explain how to add additional menu links in the bootstrap theme for vanilla? I see that there is a call to {custom_menu} but that doesn't really mean anything to me. Thanks for you help

You can add all the links you want in default.master.tpl or use a plugin from http://vanillaforums.org if you prefer.
