Neoterm only opens zsh (even when in python mode)

Describe the bug
When I used the neoterm plugin, it fails to leverage the filetype and only opens my default shell.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Edit xyz.py (or xyz.R)
  2. Ran :Topen
  3. Watch zsh launch

Expected behavior
I expected ipython to launch or Repl

Can you post your config? Do you have g:neoterm_shell set?

macos Catalina has zsh by default, this could be one of the reasons.

**Below my init.vim as well. Can you help me out here? I' using Ubuntu 18.04.
The filetype is right for python and R files as well but only bash opens for Tnew.
