Removal of war deployment in Exist-DB

Opened this issue · 5 comments

I see from https://exist-db.org/exist/apps/wiki/blogs/eXist/ that the war deployment is gone in the new exist-db 5.0 release. What re-implementations does this mean for MerMEId? My first thought was of the filter for Orbeon, and a new docker setup.

There are tests with transferring a similar setup with jetty discussed in the exist mailing list thread from https://sourceforge.net/p/exist/mailman/exist-open/thread/05a27cfa1f720ae97284efec9b74318f6fae642a.camel%40gmail.com/#msg36673942 (long thread, tried to link to interop between Orbeon and Jetty)

Best regards,
Øyvind

Hi Øyvind
I can't say, really. Unfortunately MerMEId development has stalled as of this summer and I doubt we will be able to do any further work on it. There is a chance of an improved Docker setup from elsewhere very soon (if so, I will notify about it in the MerMEId newsletter within a couple of weeks), but that will probably not address the exist 5.0 issue. I am sorry.

Hi Axel

Thank you for the update and I'm sad to hear the news on MerMEId and further work.

Hi @OyvindLGjesdal, there's some good news :)
we forked the repo at https://github.com/Edirom/MerMEId/ and try to develop a community based version of the MerMEId build by @axgeertinger and @siglun
We're already on eXist5 and the deployment is much improved, but there are still some outstanding issues to fix before we can announce a new version.

If you'd like to get involved (or just monitor the progress), there's a Slack channel at https://music-encoding.slack.com/ as well as monthly community calls.

Hi @peterstadler and thanks for the great news. I tried to join the slack channel to say hi, but was unable to login. Is there a speicific invite web-adress, and/or am I missing something?
