adevtool download gives unexpected token '?'

Hi, I'm trying to run: adevtool download ~/stock_images -d raven
Tried for a different device also: adevtool download ~/stock_images -d bluejay

It just gives: Syntax Error: Unexpected token '?'

any ideas what is causing this?
