If I were to have a button that says click to download and downloads a file past 512kb, does it still matter since its not directly being loading on a page and not worsening my performance? I make music and I both want to share music on my website, and be a part of this.

If you do a GT Metrix scan and it's less than 512 KB uncompressed, then you qualify. If it's bigger, you don't.
