Inf. Ergodox: re-assigning RIGHT key to BACKSPACE has no effect

firmware version: lts
From the default layout, I try to re-assign "RIGHT" key to "BACKSPACE". I see in KLL file this line:
U"RIGHT" : U"BACKSPACE";
Flash the related bin file, but no re-assignment.

Tried the same on the Mac, works.
