Issue description

After sleeping, the system ramdomly crashes. Sometimes I can keep playing my game, but as soon as I try to quit (M + Start hotkey) it crashes and needs to be forced to power off by hardware. Sometimes it works just fine but, it starts having other issues, like not being able to launch games anymore until I restart.

I thought this was related to issue #127, and replaced the power-button script with the latest one, but the problem persists.

Detailed reproduction steps

  • Installed Knulli using dd on a 100% new SD card.
  • No further modifications other than adding a GBA rom.
  • Started the rom, closed the lid, opened it back, pushed power button.
  • Crash.

Same thing happened with an older SD card, installed using Raspberry Imager. I thought it was a faulty SD, but doesn't seem to be the case.

Details of any attempts to fix this yourself

Replaced the power-button script mentioned in issue #127

Details of any modifications you have made to Knulli.

Replaced the power-button script mentioned in issue #127. But it was in order to fix this, also happened with the released version.

Unfortunately it might be due to faulty hardware. Tested on an identical device and couldn't reproduce the problem. But also this doesn't happen with the stock OS (I set up the sleep mode to actually sleep, not just turn the screen and sound off). So I cannot be 100% sure.

I can replicate the same behavior, but it does not need to be put to sleep. It fails only when I use the hotkey M + Start causes the system to freeze, randomly. It does not seem to be a RetroArch issue because the same occurs with PPSPP. If I do the long route (open RetroArch and Exit), it works normally.

To me the same happens as well! Though it seems it doesn’t happen on psx roms. Only gba for now.

I’ll report back if I encounter other emulators.

Edit: I do get the bios warning btw that I do not have a bios file for gba games

Update: it crashed on me during a snes game. Not it didn’t even turn on for 1 or 2 seconds. It just turned off altogether without making a save state or save file…
Update2: the issue in update 1 didn’t occur anymore 🧐
