Support for Protobuf Editions

Protobuf has switched from version to continual evolution of the syntax via "editions", see https://protobuf.dev/editions/overview. The current version of the plugin assumes proto2 and does not recognize the edition keyword, e.g.

JetBrains ships their own protobuf support these days. This plugin has been unsupported for a number of years.
