Feature request - Ability to color "Quick Access" folders

Closed this issue · 5 comments

Hi,
I just downloaded your app and I love it! I was wondering if it would be possible for the folder colors to also show up in Windows (10, in this case) Explorer's "Quick Access" bar? That would be super helpful for me :)
Kind regards,
Meike

Thanks, appreciate it.

So you mean this quick view right?

If not, show a better screenshot please.

Hey! No, I mean this here :)

Okay, never really used the feature frankly. But now that I play with Quick Access (QA) maybe I will use it more.
Anyhow, what happens if you color the equivalent to the "Citizen" folder in the example?
I just pined a Folcolor'ed color folder for QA and it is indeed colored there for me.

Edit:
Okay, I see a strange problem. If I Folcolor a folder first then pin it to QA then it shows up there colored.
But if I pin a folder first, then Folcolor it then it's not colored. Even after a icon refresh and reboot still the same.
Don't know where it caches the icons for QA, but the problem is probably there.

Is this the problem you're having?

Not ideal, but a solution:

  1. Use Folcolor to color your folder.
  2. Unpin and pin again the folder.
Should show up colored after that.

Would have to do some research to find out where QA caches it's icons to make a better fix.

oh that's interesting! I had colored two folders in the Quick Access where the color didn't show up, then I unpinned one and re-pinned it; the color showed up, and it also showed up for the other folder 😅 so that's a loophole that works 😉

[edit]: also dragging the folders into a different order in the Quick Access seems to somehow refresh it as well, making all the folder colors show up (so no need to unpin and repin)

Please do that for now. It would be nicer to right click set color on it, etc., but it will take me some research how the OS does it.
