Does not work when external headphones are connected.

When i connect external headphone through bluetooth or whether 3.5mm jack, the app's basic functionality does not work. Is there any solution to that

I'm using Ventura 13.6.7 with USB headphones and can state that Background Music appears to be working correctly across multiple concurrently running applications in that I can adjust each volume separately within the Background Music menu. It does require vigilance that Background Music is the currently selected system-level output, and that headphones are selected in Background Music and that if some apps have their own output setting that Background Music is specified for those as well. [Tested with Plex, Zoom, IINA, among others]

Came here to figure out, why it has no effect at all.

I have a 3 channel mixer connected to my headphone jack, where I mix several outputs from computers for a set of speakers and also a bluetooth transmitter connected to the mixer output.

Whatever I do, BackgroundMusic settings for apps don't do anything & Settings is spinning the wheel of death, when clicking on Audio.

Sad, as it would be solve all my problems.

Hei, I got the same problem. The app is functioning if I don't connect my headphones (either Bluetooth or via USB) it starts stuttering the sound until it completely silenced.
I've got a MacBook Air 2020 M1 with MacOS 14.6.1.
