Really slow download speed

I just bought JSTorrent and I can't seem to get any download speeds over 40 KB/s. It's usually even less. The torrents I've tried all have a lot of seeds, so I don't think that's the reason. Apparently I'm not the only one who have this issues, according to google at least.

Did you try going to the options page and increasing your # of connections, say to 50?
40KB is very, very slow. Can you also try moving closer to your wifi access point to check if that could also be a problem.
I've upped the amount of connections to 100, which gave me a bit better results. Now I sometimes get up to 200 kb/s, but most of the time around 70 kb/s. I am very close to the wifi access point and I usually have 2 mb/s on my windows machine, with other clients.
I can get up to 2MB/s on my chromebook pixel. Your download speed could be affected negatively if you have a low powered chromebook, but you should be able to get at least 500KB on pretty much all chromebooks released in the last year or so. It can sometimes also help if you also save to an external drive instead of the internal Chromebook Download folder.
Moving the download location from Google Drive to the internal download folder fixed it. Thank you.

Of course, I didn't think of that. Yes, downloading to Google Drive can definitely slow down the download a lot because it forces the upload repeatedly unnecessarily at the same time
